What is the status of UTAA: Is that a State or Foundation University?
University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, is a foundation university established by Law No. 6114 , dated on March 3, 2011 which was published in the Official Gazette No. 27 863.
How are the students admitted to your university?
To the Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree programs of our university, students are admitted through;
- Undergraduate Transfer Exam (YGS) and Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) made by the Testing Selection and Placement Center (OSYM),
- the External Transfer Exam (DGS) made by the Testing Selection and Placement Center (OSYM),
- Undergraduate Transfer,
- Acceptance of International students
What kind of scholarship can be received by the students and what requirements should students meet to sustain their scholarship?
University Admission Scholarship
University Admission Scholarship is a non-refundable scholarship which is provided to those students who are accepted to “Scholarship” programs at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association as stated in Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide published by Testing Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). University Admission Scholarship involves only the tuition fee as specified by the scholarship percentage; however, it does not include other expenditures such as accommodation, food, transportation, book and etc.
LYS (Undergraduate Placement Exam) Honorary Scholarship
This scholarship is provided to those students who rank among the first 500 students according to their score in Undergraduate Placement Exam and who are accepted to “Scholarship” programs at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association as stated in Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide.
LYS (Undergraduate Placement Exam) Honorary Scholarship is given as monthly cash money for 9 months. The amount of this scholarship is determined for each academic year by the Board of Trustees at the recommendation of the University Administrative Committee and is announced on our website.
LYS (Undergraduate Placement Exam) Honorary Scholarship is non-refundable and is suspended when a student freezes his registration or does not reregister.
Science scholarship is a non-refundable scholarship which is provided to those students who have received a gold, silver or bronze medal from the scientific competitions as determined by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and who are accepted to our university as a scholarship student in one of the fields with which they received a medal. These non-quota students are admitted to universities by the Testing Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) without taking an exam.
Science Scholarship is given as monthly cash money for 9 months. The amount of this scholarship is determined for each academic year by the Board of Trustees at the recommendation of the University Administrative Committee and is announced on our website.
Scholarship for the Children of Martyrs and War Veterans
This scholarship is provided to the children of martyrs or war veterans and whose fathers are members of Turkish Armed Forces or General Directorate of Security upon their admission to “Non-scholarship” programs at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association as stated in Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide. The number of students who will receive this scholarship as well as the amount of the scholarship is determined by Board of Trustees at the recommendation of the University Administrative Committee.
Termination of Scholarships
Out of the students who receive University Admission Scholarship, LYS (Undergraduate Placement Exam) Honorary Scholarship, Science Scholarship, Scholarship for the Children of Martyrs and War Veterans, scholarships will not be granted again to the ones,
• Who have changed their departments through external transfer exam and who have already been granted University Admission Scholarship,
• Who have received disciplinary punishment other than warning and/or reprimand,
• Who have failed English Preparatory School for two years,
• Who have exceeded 5 years in their bachelor’s degree and 3 years in their associate degree.
University of Turkish Aeronautical Association guarantees that the scholarships will not be terminated or affected by grade point average or pass scores from the courses on the condition that students attend their classes.
Academic Achievement Scholarship
The students who are registered to one of the non-scholarship programs are granted non-refundable scholarships for the following year according to the average grade at the end of an academic year.
The number of the students who can receive Academic Achievement Scholarship, the percentages of the scholarships, and required grade point averages are determined by the Board of Trustees upon the proposal of University Administrative Committee and are announced on our website. As long as the Board of Trustees do not make a new decision, the number of the students who can receive Academic Achievement Scholarship, the percentages of the scholarships, and the required grade point averages of the previous year remain the same.
Student Affairs Offices makes and suggests a list of the students who are eligible to get Academic Achievement Scholarship according to the number of students determined by Board of Trustees, the percentage of the scholarships and the required grade point averages in the beginning of the academic year before the registration date. The list of candidate students for the scholarship which is approved by the Rector’s Office, are finalized by the decision of the Board of Trustees and announced on our website before the registration.
The Conditions under which Scholarships are not Granted
Academic Achievement Scholarship is not granted to the students who
• Are studying at the English Preparatory School,
• Are studying in their first year of faculties/vocational schools of our University,
• Are not full time students during fall and spring semesters, and who are registered in one of the faculties/vocational schools of our University,
• Do not take the must courses in their current academic year or have failed classes,
• Have received disciplinary punishment other than warning and/or reprimand,
• Have exceeded their normal period of education.
Application of Scholarships and Discounts
Students who are entitled to receive scholarships and discounts in line with more than one item regarding the tuition fees benefit from only the highest two scholarships.

At which departments is the Preparatory Program implemented?
English Preparatory Program is implemented for the undergraduate programs whereas it is optional for Associate degree programs.
Where are the preparatory courses given?
The preparatory program is given at our Türkkuşu Campus.
If I take TOEFL or similar exams and get the necessary score, can I be exempted from English Preparatory Class?

Is it possible to start the freshman year after studying one semester in English Preparatory Program?
After studying one semester, only Charlie or Delta class students who take 500 or more from English Proficiency Exam (UTAA TOEFL-ITP) can enroll in their departments in the next semester.
How many years is the Department of Aviation Management?
The education in the Department of Aviation Management lasts 4 years. The students who do not know English at an appropriate level will take English Preparatory School for one year.
Is there a Foreign Language Education Program in the Department of Aviation Management? If yes, is it compulsory?
TIn the program there is a compulsory ‘English Preparatory School’. The students who pass the English Proficiency Exam will get the right to take departmental courses. The students who cannot pass the proficiency have to attend the English Preparatory School before taking the departmental courses. The fee of English Preparatory School is 20,250 TL+ VAT (8%).
Is there any compulsory training in the program of Aviation?
In order to graduate all students should do their training between the 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th, 6th and 7th semesters. The reports prepared after the end of the trainings should reflect the experiences and information during the training process.
Is it compulsory to attend the lessons in the Department of Aviation Management?
Students have to attend 70% of the academic courses and 80% of the practical courses. The students who do not attend the lessons will fail the course. However, if a student attends the lesson regularly and succeeds at once s/he does not need to attend the lesson if the same course is taken again. The students who are in this situation have to take the exams and attend the applications of the course. When evaluating the course taken again, the midterm grades of that year are taken into consideration.
What is the GPA to graduate from the program of the Department of Aviation Management?
In order to graduate from the program of Aviation Management the GPA should be 2.00 – 4.00.
